• ½ cup of roots
• 2 tablespoons indie/folk
• a pinch of blues, gypsy and funk.

Hailing from the coastal surfy town of Sunshine Coast, Australia, folk-roots duo 'JC and the Tree' draws from a background surrounded by nature. They write about life and all its complexities with lyrics drenched in analogies and inspirations from our natural world.

Think: 2 cups folk-rock, 1 cup singer-songwriter, 2 tblsp indie/folk & a pinch of roots, blues, gypsy and funk.

Featuring soaring violin, rich harmonies, piano and hand-built acoustic guitars, their sound is both grounded and transcendent, weaving a soulful tapestry of folk, rock, roots, contemporary and more. This duo takes audiences on a journey through genres leaving audiences entranced and captivated by their diversity and craftsmanship.

Following a highly successful debut European tour, spanning 30 dates across 7 countries and featuring 8 festival appearances, they’re bringing the celebrations home to Australia. The duo continues to celebrate the release of their third album, LOST IN THE WILD, on home soil. They boast a rich touring history in Australia and have been full-time touring for 4 years as of late 2026 with over 50 festival appearances in Australia and overseas.

Motivated by their love of nature the duo have gone to great lengths to offer ethical and sustainable sourced merchandise. Lead singer Jesse crafted both his acoustic guitars that he performs on. He sourced the timber himself after a tree fell during a cyclone and did all the work from collection of the timber to the guitar making. He is passionate about the sustainable sourcing of timber for instrument production.
