A Little Bit About Us...
Hailing from the coastal surfy town of Sunshine Coast in Australia, folk-rock fusion duo 'JC and the Tree' draws from a background surrounded by nature. They write about life and all its complexities with lyrics drenched in analogies and inspirations from our natural world. Fans describe their style as intricate yet accessible. Featuring soaring violin, rich harmonies, piano, and hand-built acoustic guitars, their sound is both grounded and transcendent, weaving a soulful tapestry of folk, rock, roots, contemporary and more. This duo takes audiences on a journey through genres leaving audiences entranced and captivated by their diversity and craftsmanship. With two albums and 6 singles under their belt they are working towards a 3rd album and a Europe tour for 2026.
Motivated by their love of nature the duo have gone to great lengths to offer ethical and sustainable sourced merchandise. For their debut album they gifted native seeds with every CD and Vinyl purchase encouraging fans to fall in love with nature through gardening. Motivating them to plant and care for their precious seedlings through a competition #jcandthetreefeedabee. The seeds gifted were carefully chosen to help bees and native wildlife.
JC & the Tree have a rich history of touring in Australia. In late 2022 they quit their day jobs and committed to a full-time life on the road touring their original music in Australia playing 2-4 shows a week. They have played over 500 shows already with over 50 festival appearances. Previous festival appearances include Woodford Folk Festival, Savannah in the Round, Yackandandah Folk Fest, Airlie Beach festival, Caloundra Music Fest & more. Founding member, JC (Jacinta) has a rich touring history prior to forming JC and the Tree and has played at festivals such as Glastonbury (UK) (6 times), WOMAD (UK), Bluesfest (AUS), Splendour in the Grass (AUS) & Port Fairy Folk Festival (AUS).
Lead singer Jesse crafted both his acoustic guitars that he performs on and is often busy with audience members after shows sharing the story behind it. Jesse sourced the timber himself after a tree fell during a cyclone. He did all the work from collection of the timber to the guitar making and is passionate about the sustainable sourcing of timber for instrument production.
